HISTORY OF ALGEA
Algae (in the form of cyanobacteria) were some of the first life on Earth almost 4 billion years ago. Before this form of algae, most living organisms were anaerobic, meaning they did not rely on oxygen to produce energy. Cyanobacteria, on the other hand, convert sunlight (photosynthesis) for energy – the byproduct being Oxygen (O2).
As these algae began to thrive, they released a tremendous amount of oxygen into the atmosphere. Studies indicate that approximately 80% percent of the Earth’s atmospheric oxygen has been produced by algae and other forms of marine phytoplankton. [1] The large increase in atmospheric oxygen set the stage for aerobic, or oxygen consuming, organisms to make their first appearance. The first aerobic organism evolved over billions of years into the humans and other animals that populate the Earth today.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR ALGAE
Choose your Spirulina wisely. Make sure that it is cold processed and produced in a controlled environment. Otherwise Spirulina will soak up any and everything from its environment. You wouldn’t want to be taking a Spirulina with environmental toxins would you?
Most Spirulina products on the market are heated during the process of creation thus killing all viable and beneficial nutrients making it dead on arrival.
HOW TO TAKE YOUR ALGAE
What’s great about algae is that both spiraling and chlorella can be taken almost any time of day.
Think of spirulina as a food source (energy) and chlorella as a detox nutrient.
I’ve found taking spirulina and chlorella first thing when I wake up is ideal. I then repeat mid-day and then increase my intake while fasting to support and supply energy without breaking my fast.
Chlorella is great to take as a nightcap because it will assist in mitochondrial detox while sleeping and also supplies a small amount of natural melatonin, which will also help aid in cellular detox.
